Rating: - Lack of bass line hurts an otherwise good album
As soon as I put it on, my son went over and turned it off - "Dad"! he was right.
I missed the string bass. The drums seem distracting to me - too many loud offbeats that would normally work when supported by a good bass player. I still like the playing but it just sounds too "New Orleans" to me.
I took this out without finishing and put my new copy of Andy Laverne's "Double Standard" on. What a relief.
Levine is a great jazz pianist but this is not the best setting.
