Dave McKenna may have more 'fame' on his side, but both of these artists are neglected marvels.
Their virtuosity is not flashy (though both are capable of blowing over uptempo changes), but in their focus on musicality.

So much has been written about Dave McKenna that it seems suprefluous to say more. But I must, because it is possible that there are fans of swinging jazz who don't know of him. He needs no bassist, that's certain. His rolling bass lines with his left hand are legendary. And he won't lose you with too many notes from the right hand.
