Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - These performances ARE currently available...
...just not from Boston Skyline. Unless I'm grossly mistaken, these tracks are all contained on Panorama: Dances of the Renaissance. The "From the Vault" tracks 1-23 are the same as the "Panorama" CD1 tracks 1-23. "From the Vault" track 24 is the same as "Panorama" CD2 track 13, "FtV" track 25 is "Pan" CD2 track 22, "FtV" tracks 26 and 27 are "Pan" CD2 tracks 28 and 29, and "FtV" tracks 28-30 are "Pan" CD2 tracks 39-41.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Alternate release
Frustrated buyers, hoping against hope that Skyline will get their act together, may like to know that what might be a broadly identical release exists. The original was on a Deutsche Grammaphon ARCHIV LP back in 1961. DG in July 2006, in its Collection du Millenaire, issued a disc called DANSES DE LA RENAISSANCE, which features the same two groups as on the Skyline CD -- the Ulsamer Collegium and the Collegium Terpsichore. The DG disc seems to have condensed the first thirty tracks of the Skyline ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Don't buy this!
(I want the price to come down! I want to buy one for a friend for less than $30!! This is my favorite CD of the Renaissance. It's really a classic. I love the CD. But now the used CDs are selling at ABOVE original list price! I guess I've got a collector's item!)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Boston Skyline: PLEASE RERELEASE THIS!
This is the most delightful, rollicking, joyous, beautiful recording of music of this period I have ever heard, and I've heard a passel of them. And all on original instruments, but never acrid or vinegary as period-instrument performances usually are. Including some of the finest Sixeenth Century instrumental works, by the great Michael Praetorius, Erasmus Widmann, and J.H. Schein. The arrangements are exquisite. The performances are perfect. Beautiful and haunting and infectious in their joy. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - real vital dance
It is a pity this CD lacks availability. TRULY, no contemporary group anywhere has ever coupled the vitality and sense of dance of this classical recording of the 60's. When I want to exemplify in my classes what Renaissance dance music was I always resort to this recording, and in spite of the 'shouldn't be' vibrato (even bearable in the strings), the technique, the contrasts, and the versality makes this recording a must have for any collector.
