Don't let the naysayers fool you--this is an excellent album by a band to watch. Part of Marmosets charm is that, although they liberally grab influences (think early Wire, Sebadoh, Pavement), they compress them so tightly that they really don't sound like anyone else. The chord progressions are odd and creative, and the vocals, although admittedly fairly monotone, work well are still fun to listen to in the context of the song. this is a new look on the indie rock scene. a tight, well played record.lyric content is masterful. i also enjoyed the instumentals. all in all this is a great record. a strong recommendation to anyone who enjoys the short and sweet song. marmoset has a ability to give you the hook without banging it into the ground. the songs are established with a forward beat, then they open up. before you know it the song ends. not to early but definately leaving you with the urge to rewind for another go around. ...
