Editorial Review:Amazon.com:You might not realize that the Flaming Lips are the direct descendants of both KISS and the Parliament/Funkadelics, but after watching this almost two-hour hometown performance at the Oklahoma City Zoo, there will be no doubt in your mind. And that's not just because the band members are wearing comic book outfits and make a showy decent to the stage from a homemade space ship--although they do that, as well as cavorting with zoo animals, shelling the audience with blasts of hot air, pastel confetti, and yellow exercise balls, all while performing songs from their extensive and inventive psychedelic pop canon. The Lips' own space odyssey began long before
U.F.O's at the Zoo, the first time they strung Christmas lights along their amps to get themselves noticed. During this 2006 concert, their stagecraft is much more sophisticated, but the band still remains inventive, whimsical, and engaged as they forge their strange yet intimate relationship with their audience. Frontman Wayne Coyne keeps the whole thing going, more ringmaster than lead singer, dispensing advice, demanding group participation and offering himself up as an art sacrifice, whether it's crowd surfing in an airless plastic bubble, or pouring blood on his graying curls. It's that shocking collision of whimsy and intelligence, and the desire to entertain at all costs that makes these Midwestern provocateurs one of the most important bands working today, and this one of the best concert films around.

I recieved this DVD for my birthday and I was completely blown away.
I have seen the Flaming Lips in concert, but this was WAY better.
I loved how they mixed interviews and backstage footage with live footage.
How could I have missed this amazing concert?
I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this DVD to any FLips fan, or just anyone who wants to see the greatest concert on the planet made possible by the greatest band on the planet.

Having seen the Flaming Lips live in London this was a real disappointment. This performance has none of the stunning visual effects that help make their indoor concerts so compelling, and the subtle beauty that is at the core of their music comes across as over-hyped bombast as Wayne feeds the audience the same lines for the zillionth time. With some true investment of time and funds this could have been so much more. The inter-musical interludes (shots of the zoo) (lame interviews with fans) distract ...

Living in the northeast, buying this DVD was my only chance to see the Lips live since I first borrowed Yoshimi from my local library and became a fan. Heavy on Soft Bulletin through Mystics, She Don't Use Jelly and a few other early songs are also present. The audio and video quality are both terrific. There's a fair amount of audience and "Making of..." interviews, which are actually kind of interesting. What I really enoyed most, however, was seeing and hearing how the band delivers its sonic signature ...

Amazon's listing says that this comes with a bonus CD. Is that incorrect? My copy did not have a CD with it, and I don't see any mention of a CD in any of the reviews here. If anyone can answer this I will appreciate it.

What an idiot! I live in OKC and did not go to this show. In fact I went to school with Wayne and his brother Mark. Great concert video. After watching I made sure I got tickets to their New Year's Eve show. The Lips are a true asset to our city! Thanks guys!
